What Should I Title This?

Kaili was sitting on Shane’s lap playing nicely and then out of the blue she hit him. “Kaili, we don’t hit, do you need to go to your room?” “Yes,” replied Kaili. Then she stomped down the hallway and the slamming of her door followed. A minute later she came out smiling.

Did you guys watch the USA game yesterday? The range of emotions I felt during that 95 minutes was unreal.

As I mentioned all I want to eat are desserts. Delicious decadent heavenly desserts. I saw a commercial for Sonic’s milkshakes, I have only been to a Sonic once in my life and it was on a road trip. Never need to go back but when I saw the commercial I could have sent Shane to the nearest one at that moment, they looked so good. Then I saw a picture of a coconut cream pie, are you kidding me? But then this recipe happened on Pinterest. I guess it’s been awhile since I looked for instant pudding but I don’t remember seeing coconut pudding before. This recipe definitely needs to be tested.

I have had some contractions again the past couple of days, they seem innocent enough for now. I found this picture I took on one of the days I was at Triage. It’s probably hard to imagine what a contraction looks like on paper, so I thought I would share.

We are officially under 20 days until we get to meet the baby. I am trying to go over all of the things I need for baby A. I am reusing everything of Kaili’s for the most part.  Going over some lists, I see I am missing a few things. If you have any suggestions for items that I could use, please indulge.

Well that Escalated Quickly

Yesterday was my Dr. appointment. I was looking forward to scheduling our due date and telling her about these BH contractions I have been having. I left the house thinking I would be back in an hour, well that is what I told K and my mom, but I never came back. Ok, ok I came back but not until 6 hours later.

I was having  consistent contractions at the office and when I told my doc, she wanted to take all precautions to make sure these contractions weren’t “doing anything” i.e. changing my cervix. Thing is I can’t have a normal cervical check with placenta previa, so she had a few other options and she wanted to do them all.

First she gave me a FFN test. FFN is a“glue-like” protein that bonds your developing baby to your uterus.” Your body will secrete some of this FFN when your body is getting ready to deliver baby. It’s done almost in the same fashion as a pap-smear and they use a cotton swab to test your lady bits. Let me just say that having a speculum in during pregnancy is NOT fun.

Secondly she wanted to do a trans-vaginal ultrasound to check the length of my cervix. It looked good and long, so that was reassuring. Then she moved up to an abdominal ultrasound to take a look at baby and she noticed I was contracting, I actually didn’t feel that one..

Last she wanted me to take my FFN test to Triage and have them run the test while I got put on the monitors to see how these contractions are looking.
But before all that fun could start, first things first. The due date. She surprised me when she said she wanted to deliver baby A at 37 weeks. I knew it would be early, I didn’t think that early. She said with my previa and the uterine scarring, this is when she thinks is best. She did say there is a small chance baby may need some help with breathing in the NICU after delivery but it’s a small enough chance that she is confident in this date.

We will be meeting baby A on July 10th.

After all things were set in motion, I went down the road to the hospital. Once I walked inside ALL THE MEMORIES came flooding back.

To be continued…

Say What?

Should I start with the good or not so good? Ok the good. How bout them Seahawks? They did a little bit of murdering Sunday and it was a thrill to watch. Our house was booming.

I made too much food but it was all delicious. Soft pretzels with cheese sauce…drool, buffalo chicken potato skins, baked jalapeño poppers and Carne asada. To say we ate well was an understatement. We drank [and by we I mean them] delicious wine from Walla Walla, a few from California and a couple from Australia.

Saturday I spent the day in the OC with family. After getting home and putting K to bed I noticed I was having what felt like contractions. Contractions? At 14 weeks? I know right?  I had some anxiety so I thought that might have been the cause. They went away a few hours later. I felt fine the next day until later in the afternoon, then they started up again. They lasted longer this time and the longer I had them the more uncomfortable I was feeling. I researched everything I could, which isn’t much because it seems pretty rare. They finally went away and I was able to fall asleep. I called the Doc as soon as I woke up and I anxiously waited a phone call back. When the nurse called she told me that due to my history I need to head to Triage if they came back. It’s probably nothing serious but it could be “super early pre-term labor”. Ahem, excuse me? No way man.

Monday evening came and I started feeling them again but they weren’t too bad so I told myself I was fine. I took it easy, took a bath and fought every reason to go to the hospital. The contractions were not very strong but I started  to feel uncomfortable. Since it is so early on in the pregnancy it’s hard to tell what is what anymore. I have some minor cramping and a dull backache as I write this. I am really hoping this is gone by morning, I’m sure it will be, but if it’s not I will head over to Triage to see what the hell is going on.
