Friday FunDay!

My sweet baby girl was such a princess this weekend. I was a little worried how she would handle the change but no need, she did great. Shane and I spent Friday checking out Ventura. His coworkers gave us some recommendations on things to do and we really enjoyed ourselves. We started with a wine bar called the Cave, a bit pricey but they had some good wines and the food looked pretty yummy.

We didn’t eat there because we wanted to try a place in the harbor. It was a little french cafe called La Petit and the food was delish!! We ended the meal with the best creme brulee I have ever had, even baby girl was so happy with our choice!

happy with our choice in restaurants
amazing stuff
nothing like a good nap after a great meal

Friday night we met up with Janet and Brian at a rooftop lounge in downtown Ventura.

We enjoyed some wine and appetizers before heading off for some Indian Food. Very fun day! Kaili didn’t go down for bed easily but she slept all night long 9:00 – 6:30 🙂

Meet N Greet

Today started out great, why you ask? Because Kaili slept 10 hours straight
last night. I can only hope it lasts!

After Shane headed off to work Kaili and I hung out listening to the Wiggles and drinking not very good coffee, well I drank the coffee and she watched. About 11 am we headed out to meet Shane at work to meet his “other” family. Everybody was super nice and they had a nice lunch set up which was very yummy. Kaili was adored by all of course.  After lunch I took her for a walk down to the pier. It’s so close, I only wish I could walk to the beach from my house. It was the perfect day outside.

Our little stroll by the beach wore Miss K out so I thought it would be a perfect time to sit by the pool. Her in the shade and me in the sun!

Off We Go!

Today Kaili is 2 months old and we celebrated by taking a mini road trip to Ventura. She is getting to be such a big girl. Smiles all the time and is really trying to giggle, she just can’t quite figure it out. Her babbling is becoming more frequent, she talks up a storm while on the changing table. I don’t know why but that is her happy spot.

She did great in the car, slept most of the way but enjoyed the scenery as well. After we arrived at the hotel and unloaded ALL our stuff we headed out on foot to check out Main St., it’s only 2 blocks away! Wow! There are so many cute shops and interesting restaurants. A couple of places caught my eye, one was an Indian place called Bollywood another was  Thai/Peruvian spot, but there is no shortage of variety. Once Kaili was asleep I stopped to enjoy an Iced Coffee, people watched and fed the little birdies at a cute little cafe. After our journey around town we drove to a nearby Trader Joes for some snacks and water.

Tomorrow Kaili and I are going to visit Shane at work to meet all his coworkers and have lunch. We  have also been requested to make an appearance at his gym to meet his fitness family. I am hoping to take a walk down to the pier sometime too. It is only a few blocks away as well!

Play Gym Fun

I must admit, Kaili doesn’t get as much tummy time as she should. I feel like I am hindering her motor skills, so I went out and bought a play gym for her to “hang” out on. It comes with  a floor mat and some fun toys hang down that she will eventually bat at. I was originally going to get the fancy one that had all the lights and sounds on it but this one says it’s easy to fold up to take with you on the go. I thought that was better since we have a lot of traveling in our future. To make up for the missing music fun I also bought a tummy time mirror in the shape of a fish that plays music.  This will be great to take with us to the houses that have hard wood floors and hotel with carpets that are maybe not the cleanest.

I also found this adorable onesie at Target. It says it all!

This week Kaili and I are enjoying our time at my parents house in Laguna Niguel. Kaili has been a trooper with all that we have been doing. She didn’t however love our trip to the pool. In my head it sounded great, she would sleep while I got some sun. That is not exactly how it went though. She didn’t want to sleep and wasn’t loving being in the stroller so I spent a lot of time in the shade trying to get her to sleep. When she did nap it was in increments of 10 minutes or so. Before we left I wanted to give her a dip in the kiddy pool but by that time she was tired and hungry so she wasn’t having it.

I think I will wait until she is a bit older to do this again!

Dear Kaili

Sweet baby girl you are 7 weeks old now and I can’t believe how much you are changing each and every day. You are becoming such a big girl and starting to sleep through the night. This morning I woke up to your smiles and it was the best feeling ever.

You want to take in all your surroundings and are starting to respond to mommy’s voice. You enjoy meal times, gazing at all that is new in your world, cuddling with me, singing and dancing on the changing table and your favorite is bath time.

Every day I look at you and can’t believe that you are mine “forever”, I love you!

Happy Day

For about a week now Kaili has been sleeping more at night and it’s so nice. Our nights consists of 3 rounds. The first round starts at 8-9pm and is the most stressful round. She usually fights sleep and I sometimes find myself putting her down 3 or 4 times before she is actually asleep for good. The second round happens about 1-2 am and this is the easiest round. I get to her before she is really “awake” and I change her, feed her and put her down in about 20 minutes. She goes right back to sleep which is wonderful since I am doing it half asleep as well. The last round which is the hardest round only because she doesn’t want to sleep in her bassinet anymore. This happens about 4 or 5am and then she will wake herself up about a half hour later. I will unswaddle her and bring her into bed with me, lay her on my chest (or Shane’s when he is home) where we both sleep for a few more hours. On  good days, she only wakes up once on the second round and then will sleep until 6am. I really like it when that happens 🙂

She slept so good last night, only waking once at 1:30am. and then we took another “nap” around 7am today. After we woke up and had a snack she gave me the biggest smile while I was kissing her cheek! Oh happy day!! This was my first social smile! She gave me a few more throughout the morning and each time it made my heart melt.

She is much more alert these days taking in all her surroundings. She also got a taste of swimming last night when I took her into the bath tub with me. She did a little splashing and floating on her back. She is a water baby and we will try to keep it that way!

Weekly Update

This past week has been interesting to say the least. Kaili started out the week with stomach problems again. Since  I stopped the dairy her stomach seemed to be better so we went back to giving her  the lactose free powdered formula, it’s just so much cheaper than the ready-made formula. After 3 days of one very unhappy baby I went out and bought more ready-made stuff to see if it made a difference… since then she has been a different child, a happy one! Everyone we talk to, including her pediatrician say that it shouldn’t matter if it’s powdered or ready-made, it’s all the same. I just don’t buy it!

Today we saw the pediatrician for her  2 month shots and physical. She now weighs 9 lbs. 2 oz. and is 22 inches long. She is still on the smaller size, however her brain has grown twice as much as “her friends” over the past 6 weeks. Long story short she is doing great! She is moving her hand just fine and it doesn’t seem to be bothering her at all. Dr. wants to make sure the nerves are OK so he suggests pinching her…hard… when she is calm. I think that is just cruel, ugh!

At the end of the appointment it was time for her shots. She ended up getting 3 injections and one oral mediation for Rotavirus.  I decided to step out of the room for these, I just couldn’t see her in pain. However she was a champ and yes there were tears but they stopped when it was over. She has been a bit fussy and tired today but that was expected. She is now sleeping soundly and hopefully we will have another great night of sleep!
